Profile

My name is Michael Diaz, I was born and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts in Boston. I grew up with a single mother who is Puerto Rican, my heritage is something I hold dear to me and is very important to me. I attended Massasoit Community College for about 2 years and a half where I graduated with my associate’s degree in applied science. I took a year off of school to take care of my mental health, being a first generation college student really took it’s toll on me and while I loved the journey I definitely needed to step back and recharge. I then graduated from Bridgewater State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. A lot of my work is influenced by my childhood experiences, growing up in a low income neighborhood, being bullied at a young age, being raised by a single parent and having identity questions have all played an important part. These experiences really effect my work on a deep subconscious level that helps me have a new perspective on why and what I’m designing. My design philosophy is to love what you do and never stop doing it, I think too many people get consumed with working just to work and get by but I believe we should be working and evolving with things that make us happy so that we live a fulfilling life full of joy with no regrets.
